Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as Titans from eth, have no changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or received as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

In order to upgrade an item of armor, the player has to choose it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of item names. For instance, adding the suffix Glyph will transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph by another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several pieces.

This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.

After a piece has been upgraded to its highest level, it is able to get an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available is contingent on the item's base. For example an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will only have two affixes to choose from and legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item does not attain its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take up to two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower success rate.

Engineers may employ a level to compare the height of the building with a known point, such as an existing benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level before turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to an extremely high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength and damage as well as other characteristics. This can be accomplished through the item menu or clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to obtain tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade item cost of the item.

In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you could be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than other items. Each upgraded item upgrader kit may come with a bonus that increases the power of the item by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added into the standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also comes with a number of sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on an item upgrader kit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling is a method to gain a stronger character faster, allowing you to advance in the game and reach higher tiers.

Sets

For example the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, armor and weapons have higher value when they are updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also increase the defense value of armor that has an updated look.
