WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the Item level upgrade by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item level upgrade at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item upgrade has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader mod upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true even if the items come from a different set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
