WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an Item Level Upgrade, Bookmarkstore.Download, by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which will display a preview of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade items to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even if they belong to another set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available once certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the type or gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
