Saab Key Programming

Saab cars manufactured since 1994 use an immobilizer system based on keys that are coded. To add an additional key, you need an entirely new transponder and programming. This is usually done by the dealer with a specialized Tech2 diagnostic tool.

It can be costly. This is the reason why you should always have a spare key at hand.

Transponder key

The transponder key is a key equipped with an electronic chip. It sends a signal to car when it is placed in the ignition. The car then checks the signal to see whether it is the same as the one on the key. If the signals match, the car will unlock itself and start. This is a great method to deter car theft and keep your vehicle secure from thieves.

Transponder keys are a popular feature in cars, but you must be aware that they are not as secure as traditional keys made of metal. The metal portion of a traditional key is easily copied and cut, but transponders are protected by an electronic chip which protects it. Jump-starting the battery
